frequently-asked questions

how do you sort out complaints about pensions?

People contact us with a range of complaints about pensions - whether they've had problems transferring or receiving their pension, or they feel their pension isn't right for them.

When we look into complaints about pensions, we consider things like the advice or information someone was given - or, if there's been a practical problem, what's happened and why.

If we decide something's gone wrong, we'll consider whether someone's lost out as a result - and what the business needs to do to put things right. This might mean paying an annuity at the rate that would have been applied if things hadn't gone wrong.

There's more information on our approach to pensions on our website - and you can find case studies in our regular newsletter, ombudsman news.
