Have you fallen out with your bank or insurance company or a finance firm? The financial ombudsman service is the free service set up by law to settle complaints between consumers and financial businesses. Most of the time financial matters run smoothly, but if they don't, the ombudsman may be able to help.

Around a million people a year contact the service for help with bank accounts insurance or mortgages. If you're unable to resolve the matter with a company, then you can find out how you can get help by calling 0300 123 9 123 or look at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
