At the Financial Ombudsman Service, we’ve been settling disputes between financial businesses and their customers since we were set up by Parliament in 2001. We’re a diverse and inclusive employer and can offer you a great start to your professional life.

Join us as an Apprentice and begin your career at an organisation that’s committed to fairness. We put things right for consumers, small businesses, charities and trusts who have made a complaint about their financial services provider.

Our apprenticeship programme

As an apprentice, you’ll play a valuable role supporting the Financial Ombudsman to do the work we do.

Our next Apprenticeship programme will start in September 2026 with a variety of roles based in London.

You’ll start with an Early Career induction, spending the first week alongside other apprentices and getting to know your manager and team in our London office. It’ll prepare you for professional life and help you balance your work and educational commitments.

Who can apply

You can apply for an apprenticeship with us at any age over 18, as long as you have finished formal education. We welcome applications from those who want to change careers as well as those leaving school or finishing university.

If you have studied a degree, you can still apply for an apprenticeship as long as your degree isn’t in the same subject area. The apprenticeship is designed to provide you with new skills that are different to any previous training.

By investing in new and fresh talent, we’re building a diverse and skilled team that’s ready to take on new challenges.

Selena Rahman, Head of Internal Communications

The best part of my apprenticeship is being able to earn while I learn. Each day brings something new. Knowing that I work for an organisation that makes a real difference to people’s lives is rewarding.
