Businesses that wouldn't otherwise be covered by our compulsory jurisdiction can choose to be covered by our voluntary jurisdiction - meaning they agree to deal with complaints, and comply with our decisions, in the same way as businesses under our compulsory jurisdiction.

A number of businesses have chosen to be covered by our voluntary jurisdiction - from mortgage and insurance intermediaries who wanted to be covered before they were regulated by the FCA, to businesses such as PayPal, who are based outside the UK but have a large number of UK customers.
